Denture clinic to remain firmly in place

The denture clinic on Clarke Street in Clifford will continue to be a fixture in this community.
Late last month, council approved a zoning bylaw amendment to allow continued use of the clinic in the building that once housed the Clifford library.
The clinic has existed on site for the past 13 years.
Wellington County planner Mark Van Patter considered the amendment fairly straightforward, to recognize an existing use.
However, until the meeting, the building was zoned for residential use.
Van Patter noted the amendment would now allow a permanent medical clinic on site to allow additional use – rather than to simply permit the added use of a denture clinic to the site.
Bridge repairs needed
Further to a mandatory inspection of all municipal bridges in Minto, Public Works Director  Norm Fisk reported to council that the William Street bridge near the cheese house in Clifford will need to be rebuilt in 2008.
For the time being the bridge will be posted with a 5 ton maximum weight sign.
