Passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026 at Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home in Fergus, ON at the age of 93. Klaasje is now reunited with her beloved spouse, Berend de Boer, and her son, Klaas. She leaves behind her children Jenny (Jamie) Porter of Belwood, ON, and Luke (Leanne) De Boer and is remembered dearly by her grandchildren, Brent (Samantha), Adam (Kaitlyn), Makyla (Sean), Ciara (Geert), Logan (Kenzie), Dawson and Bryce. She was blessed to be a Great-Oma to Evelynn, Baron, Jacob, Mason and Aubrey. Klaasje is survived by her sister Griet (Jan), brother Gerrit (late Aaltje) and is predeceased by her three brothers, Henk (Griet), Luke (Tina) and Peter (Hendrikje). She will be missed by her many extended relatives in Canada and in The Netherlands. Klaasje was a remarkably hard‑working and dedicated woman whose life spanned many challenging chapters in history. Eduring the great depression, a world war, and countless personal trials, she retained a deeply rooted optimism and an unwavering love of life. She embraced every opportunity, every moment, with quiet strength, grace and an open heart. Her role as an Oma was one of her greatest joys, a treasure. She nurtured her grandchildren with warmth, patience, and pride. In her community, she was a faithful and devoted member of St. John Church in Belwood, offering her time, her spirit, and her kindness. Through all she faced, Klaasje’s resilience and gentle courage left a legacy of love that continues to shine. Friends and family were received on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 10:00am to 10:45am at St. John’s United Church, 28 Queen St Belwood, ON, N0B 1J0. A funeral service followed at 11:00am in the church sanctuary. Burial was followed at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Belwood, ON. A reception followed. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations made to St. John’s United Church would be appreciated by Klaasje’s family.
