Date not set for rescheduled fill meet

A week before a public meeting to consider fill issues in the municipalities, councillors here cancelled that meeting until the return of councillor John Brennan, who has been absent for the past few months for medical reasons.

When the issue arose on July 12, Town Manager Lisa Hass said the meeting was scheduled for July 19.

However councillor Barb Tocher said her understanding is that Brennan would not be able to attend, and asked if council wished to reschedule.

Hass added that at that point the municipality had not heard back from the Credit Valley Conservation Authority about the issue although the Grand River Conservation Authority had indicated it could have staff available for the meeting.

Council’s decision was to defer the meeting.

Tocher pointed out that Brennan is council’s representative on the GRCA board.

Council did not anticipate Brennan’s return to council  meetings until September.

As a result, councillor Josie Wintersinger suggested deferring the meeting until that time.

Tocher said councillors could make the decision to cancel the July 19 meeting and bring it back to the next regular council meeting, Aug. 16, to set a future date.

Council passed a resolution to that effect.

At the same time, councillors agreed they would prefer the public meeting to be held sooner than later.
