Cup quibble

Dear Editor:

I want to begin by expressing how well run the Canada Day celebrations were in Elora. There was so much great community spirit and such a beautiful day to gather together. Well done to all who contributed and volunteered; it made me proud to participate.

There was one thing however that struck me as being completely out of touch with our local environmental awareness campaigns. While on one hand we had an impressive display of the Save Our Water coalition, we had a pancake breakfast (as delicious as it was) serving juice in Styrofoam cups (hundreds). The disconnect was staggering. This at the same time we complain of plastic water bottles.

A small quibble perhaps, but let us be consistent in our community messaging. All the best for next year!
