Culture Days events coming to Wellington North

WELLINGTON NORTH – This September and October, Ontario is celebrating the Culture Days Festival, an annual celebration of arts, culture and heritage.

It takes place each fall across the province, Wellington North included.

More specifically, and according to manager of community and economic development Dale Small, the Wellington North Cultural Roundtable aims to preserve, promote and develop Wellington North’s “unique cultural resources to build a more vibrant community and a prosperous economy.”

“We have participated in Culture Days for many years and this is a great time for the community to get out and see all the many unique cultural assets we have in Wellington North,” Small stated in an email to  the Community News.

In Wellington North this year, there will be several events and activities to celebrate Culture Days. 

Arthur

Arthur will be kicking off Culture Days events with its fall fair from Sept. 7 to 10, with the theme “Tractors and Tailgates.” 

On Sept. 9, Arthur will also be having an Arthur Cash and Carry fall pie festival and market from 9am to 2pm on Fredrick Street West. It will feature local artisan vendors, gourmet food, baked goods, flowers and produce, and more. There will also be a photo-op in the harvest decorated cabin.

On Sept. 30 at Metz United Church, at 8276 Sideroad 25, Metz Pumpkinfest will be held from 3 to 9pm. Individuals are asked to bring their own pumpkin and there will be a weigh-in and a pumpkin cannon.

Oct. 2 to 7 at the Arthur Public Library, 110 Charles St., Wellington North Culture Days will be celebrated with drop-in crafts. A straw rocket challenge for those aged 8 to 13 will also take place Oct. 3 from 4 to 5pm.

Mount Forest

Culture Days in Mount Forest will include a multitude of activities, including a newcomer celebration on Sept. 14 and a farmers’ market on Sept. 30 from 8:30 to noon.

Similar to Arthur, Mount Forest will also be having an artisan showcase on Oct. 21 from 9:30am to 2:30pm at the Mount Forest and District Sport Complex. 

From Oct. 2 to 14 there will also be craft events at the public library.

In Kenilworth on Sept. 30 from 9am to 4pm, there will be a Lynes Blacksmith Shop open house. Community members are welcome to learn about the history of a way of life, a family, a town and a county through the rural heritage experience.

Minto and Wellington North

From Sept 8 to 10, the Lighthouse Wellness Festival will take place in various locations across Minto and Wellington North. 

The festival is “a celebration of wellness every day” with activities that encourage the body to move, express creativity and teach something new.

Culture Days in Wellington North officially runs from Sept. 22 to Oct. 15 with many more events available than just the ones listed.
