COVID-19 question

Dear Editor:

On March 26, we had a Telephone Town Hall in Erin.

Here was my question to council: A recent survey tells us that half of Canadians are $200 away from not being able to pay their bills. Another reveals that one third are concerned about missing their mortgage payments. The announced 60-day deferral is helpful but taxes are still due.

Since it will take a while, if ever, for some people to go back to full employment, what is the Town of Erin planning to do to deal with a reduced number of solvent taxpayers? For example, the Waterloo CFO said that he is worried about going in the red, unlikely to cover costs. What would you do to offset a deficit?
