COVID-19 claims life of former Arthur Township reeve

GOWANSTOWN - Former Arthur Township reeve Ivan Lloyd Suggitt, 76, passed away at Stratford General Hospital on Dec. 5 of COVID-19 pneumonia.

A resident of Gowanstown, formerly of Kenilworth, Suggitt was a farmer before purchasing the Kenilworth General Store, which he ran with his wife Shirley (Wilkinson) Suggitt for 16 years.

Suggitt served on Arthur Township council for 20 years as councillor, deputy-reeve and reeve. He also served various boards, including Maitland Valley Conservation Authority and its foundation.

Funeral arrangements are pending but memorial donations can be made through the Eaton Funeral Home in Listowel at www.eatonfuneralhome.ca.
