WELLINGTON COUNTY – The county was the last holdout here to regularly stream council meetings online in the post-COVID world.
Following a summer break, a Sept. 25 meeting was the first to be streamed online for observers.
The seven lower-tier municipalities in Wellington County already livestream meetings.
The county previously held virtual meetings during COVID-19 restrictions, but didn’t make the move to regular streaming until now. The the move was recommended last year to help make council decisions more transparent.
Recordings will have closed captioning and be published to the county’s website within 24 hours, according to a news release.
The county’s 10 monthly committee and board meetings, along with a quarterly accessibility advisory committee meeting, will not be livestreamed, but can be attended in person.
Council meetings continue to happen in person, and require staff and delegates to physically attend the council chamber in Guelph.
