County museum to host Halloween festivities

ABOYNE – The Wellington County Museum and Archives (WCMA) is hosting several events this month to celebrate Halloween.

First are the Murder Mystery Nights (ages 14+), on Oct. 24 and 25 from 7 to 9:30pm.

It’s 1946 and tragedy has struck at the county Poor House. Keeper of the house William Howes has sadly passed away, and the community is invited to join his wife, Ethel, at the celebration of life. Times are tough for the Poor House and all community support is appreciated during these trying months. What could go wrong?

Unleash detective skills for this live theatrical performance, complete with hors d’oeuvres, drinks and live music. There are two types of tickets: an alcoholic drink ticket for $50 plus HST, and a non-alcoholic drink ticket for $40 plus HST.

Another event includes the Cemetery Tours (ages 14+), on Oct. 24 and 25 at 7pm and 9pm.

Explore the burial sites of the former Poor House in these one hour tours of the house cemetery.

Tickets are $15 per person plus HST.

Beyond the Veil (ages 14+) will take place on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at 9pm and 11:59pm.

Beyond the Veil offers a rare chance to explore the Wellington County Museum and Archives after dark.

Attendees will wander the shadowy halls where history lingers, and the past may not be as quiet as it seems. Ghosts, ghouls, and mysteries await… but only for those brave enough to seek them, museum officials state.

The Pumpkin Walk on Nov. 1 at 6pm will give participants the chance to show off their jack-o-lanterns at this annual event.

Bring carved pumpkins to the museum between 9am and 4:30pm.

From 6 to 8pm, walk through the rows of the lit-up pumpkins and discover other creative designs.

Pre-registration is not required, and admission is by donation.

The Hallow’Tots Party on Oct. 31, from 10 to 11am is fully booked.
