Councillor wants Community Safety Zone established on Brock Road in Aberfoyle

ABERFOYLE – Puslinch councillor John Sepulis would like to see a Community Safety Zone established in Aberfoyle on Brock Road (Wellington Road 46), between Wellington Road 34 and Gilmore Road.

At the Oct. 7 virtual council meeting, Sepulis put forward a notice of motion to ask the county for approval of the safety zone.

He said Wellington County is considering Community Safety Zones in various parts of the region and the section of Brock Road in Aberfoyle should be a consideration.

“This roadway is the main road through the hamlet of Aberfoyle and is designated as [50km/h] speed zone,” he wrote.

However, speeding is a concern and Aberfoyle Public School is located nearby, said Sepulis.

There are also numerous community facilities located on Brock Road, including the Puslinch Community Centre, athletic fields, Wellington County library and Aberfoyle Market, in addition to houses and other businesses.

Sepulis’ notice of motion will be discussed by council on Oct. 21.
