Council to apply for federal Build Communities Strong Fund Grant
BRUCEDALE – Council here has voted to submit an application for the federal Build Communities Strong Fund (BCSF) grant with hopes of rebuilding the public washrooms at Rockmosa Park in Rockwood.
The grant was launched in April of this year and seeks to support the renewal and expansion of public infrastructure across Canada.
“This program supports a wide range of eligible projects such as parks, trails, community centres and recreational facilities,” reads a July 6 report to council.
Approved projects can receive up to 50 per cent of eligible project expenses.
Council directed staff to inquire with federal officials to see if there was preference given to a certain type of project. If so, council will change the project to better ensure the funding is received. If no preference is stated council gave staff the green light to apply for the grant for the washroom project.
The project is estimated to cost between $1.75 million and $2 million.
