Puslinch council has no issue providing a reduced fee to the Puslinch Optimists to hold an adult spelling bee on Oct. 22.

A resolution passed by council on April 20 authorized a 40% reduction in the fee.

The letter from club president Vince Klimkosz stated the Optimist Club of Puslinch plans to host an adult spelling bee with Optimist Joel Porter taking on leadership of the event.

The fundraiser would not involve the serving of any alcoholic beverages.

The club also asked for the  event to be listed on the township website and on the electronic sign at the community centre in hopes of drawing in a larger crowd.

“Our club would really appreciate the consideration,” Klimkosz stated.

Council had no issue with the reduced fee for the use of the Archie MacRobbie Hall and instructed staff to work with the group to include the listing on the website and on the community sign.

Councillor Matthew Bulmer suggested one option to keep costs down. He said the costs would be considerably lower if the group chose to hold the event on a Sunday rather than a Saturday afternoon.

Lever recommending that information be forwarded to the club.
