Centre Wellington has agreed to acknowledge the upcoming Ice Jam concert as a community festival of municipal significance.

On Jan. 26 council reviewed correspondence from Shawn Watters, co-director of Riverfest/Ice Jam.

Ice Jam is an outdoor music festival scheduled for March 7 on the grounds of the Elora Mill.

In making his request that Centre Wellington acknowledge the festival as municipally significant, Watters stated that gates open at 5pm with music to start at 6pm.

Four bands will perform, including headliners the Arkells and Rich Aucoin.

The event would be finished at 11pm. The event is to be licensed with ability to purchase food on site. This will be an all age event.

Watters added the site will be staffed with private security as well as the OPP. The site will include a portable stage, food, beverage and merchandise area, washrooms and a warming tent.

Council agreed to the request.
