Council awards tender for Main Street sidewalks in Rockwood
BRUCEDALE – Guelph/Eramosa council has awarded the tender for Main Street North sidewalk replacement in Rockwood to Lee Keiswetter Heavy Civil Inc. in the amount of $197,660.
“The 2026 budget included a capital project for the reconstruction of the Main Street North sidewalk located on the east side between Jackson Street and Gzowski Street,” states a report shared with council on April 27.
“The sidewalk in the area is in poor shape and has numerous sections with poor grading and drainage.”
The township received a total of 12 bids for the work, ranging from the winning bid of $197,660 to $408,000 (from Capital Paving Inc.).
Including construction costs, design, contract administration, inspection and geotechnical and permit fees, the total project cost is estimated at about $240,000. Minus $5,000 received from the county, the total project cost is about $235,000 – $23,000 above the project’s capital budget of $212,000.
This project will be largely funded through the township’s infrastructure renewal reserve fund.
“Given the condition of the sidewalk, public works is recommending the project proceed,” states the report.
Council unanimously approved awarding the tender to Keiswetter Heavy Civil.
