Council accepts Jones Baseline culvert replacement quotation
Total project cost to exceed $170,000
BRUCEDALE – Guelph/Eramosa council has accepted a quotation for $130,737 from Cox Construction for a Jones Baseline culvert replacement.
“An embarkment failure on a Jones Baseline cross culvert approximately 400 meters south of Highway 7 occurred in 2025,” states a report shared with council during its April 27 meeting.
“Culvert extensions were added to repair the roadway and make it safe. The repair work highlighted the need for a full replacement of the structure.”
The township received a total of six quotations for the work:
- from CMB Excavation for $328,138;
- McGillivray Trenchless for $208,148;
- Roubos Farm Service, $185,771;
- Buildscapes Construction Limited, $185,077;
- Capital Paving Inc., $143,000; and
- Cox Construction Limited, $130,737.
All of these quotations do not include HST.
Including construction costs, design, contract administration, inspection, geotechnical and permit fees, the total project cost is estimated at approximately $175,000.
This is below the approved capital budget for the project as outlined in the 2026 budget. The budget for the project was $190,000.
Council approved the quotation and awarded the work to Cox Construction Limited in a unanimous vote.
