COOPER, Doreen (Kelly)

Was born July 23, 1932, in Manchester England just prior to World War 2. In her 93+ years on this earth Doreen experienced the creation of TV, computers, debit cards, Facetime and she learned all of it. Our Mum was a woman raised to love the beauty in this world despite the great challenges she journeyed thru, emigration to a new country, Canada. Our Mum & Dad crossed the ocean on a steam ship with small children & a baby to build a home in the countryside of Georgetown Ontario. Brick by brick they created a life for us to flourish in this beautiful country. They knew the value of hard work and community. Doreen was an avid photographer & movie maker, always recording our lives and the moments of pride and joy. Mum instilled this love of photography, and all her amazing talents into her 3 daughters, Lesley also became a family historian and photographer, sharing this valued calling. Lorraine was gifted with mums extreme talent in sewing and home arts, sharing this art for future grandchildren to carry on. Melanie was given the love of mums spirit, dancing, singing, music and writing. The gifts Mum gave all of us are too many to list, they show up in the 6 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren. This is the beauty of Family traits... the gifts extend thru us all. Doreen had a smile that was like the sun, pure joy. Our Mum was a good woman, good mother, good wife, good daughter and sister, she wanted nothing more. I knew she would go to heaven and told daily thru her passing. As friends & family gathered and shared beautiful moments with Mum thru the weeks prior to the end of her time on this earth, she was reminded of how much she meant to everyone. The holding of hands with those who have loved her their entire lives in this life... the laughter and tears knowing this was the end of someone’s story. We were so grateful for the moments we’ve all shared as simply people who loved Doreen Cooper. Kissing her desperately, and praying for safe travels, Mum left this life on the evening of June 26, 2026. With great thanks to the residents of Highland Manor who checked on her daily and brought her joy, the staff of Highland Manor whose care was exceptional, David Bain RN & Dr. Stickney for their devoted efforts to give Mum the dignified, respectful passing she had earned. I am everything, because of you, Mum.
