Connecting link funds

The town has been successful in its application for Connecting Link funding from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation for repairs to the Coon Creek Bridge at the south end of Clifford.

The work has been needed for some time. Highway 9 remains a busy route and the intersection upgrade is expected to improve the flow of traffic in that part of Minto. There is money set aside in the 2011 town budget for the work.

The MTO requires the funds be spent by the end of 2012. The town will receive up to $445,000 in funding for the project. Any construction costs in excess of that will be covered by Minto.

Council subsequently passed a resolution to receive the MTO funds.

“It’s kind of nice to get this,” Mayor George Bridge commented.
