Concerns arise from budget

A councillor here has some concerns about an equipment proposal that stems from council’s budget meeting held recently.

Part of the minutes from that meeting included comments from Centre 2000 facility manager Graham Smith who told council if the cinema program there continues, a digital projector is needed to continue to show movies. He said other aspects of the venue are in good condition - the flooring and lighting are good and the curtains are new.

However as council discussed the minutes, councillor Josie Wintersinger said, “What concerned me was the Centre 2000 digital projector request ... for the simple reason that I don’t know if I see a value for it.”

The matter was discussed further with staff on Jan. 31.
