Community Foundation gives $25,000
ELORA – The Centre Wellington Community Foundation handed out $25,000 in grants to local charities at a ceremony at the GrandWay Events Centre on May 8. The charities support initiatives in the arts, financial literacy, food insecurity, youth development and sports, education, environment and special programs and events in Centre Wellington. The foundation’s mission is to strengthen the community by helping donors achieve their giving goals and by helping area non-profits find resources to support their important work. The foundation receives donations and endowments that it invests for the purpose of growing its reserves and donating to community groups. The keynote speaker for the evening was Cindy Lindsay, one of the founders of the foundation.
