The Melville United Church will host a community carol sing on Nov. 27 at 3pm.

“We want to reach out to our community, invite people to our church and give back to our community by supporting The Door,” said Matthias Schmidt, organist at Melville United.

After inviting church choirs to participate throughout Centre Wellington, the response has been positive, Schmidt said. Members of Elora United, Elora Presbyterian and Bethel Baptist  will attend along with the Centre Wellington Singers.

“There will be a free will offering in support of The Door and the hunger relief aid in Africa,” Schmidt said. “Members of The Door will talk about their mission within our community.”

Each choir will present a carol and all choirs will have opportunities to sing together, along with the audience.

“People can request carols to be sung from a selection we will provide that will feature songs for everyone, young and old” said Schmidt. “It will be a lot of fun singing carols in such a large group of like-minded people for the beginning of Advent while helping people in our own community, too.”

A reception will follow the event in Melville’s  Fellowship Hall.
