Committee to change name?
The town’s fire committee name could soon be considerably longer.
Deputy-mayor Judy Dirksen noted a portion of the fire committee minutes which recommended the addition of “emergency measures” into the committee’s name.
Chairman David Turton said a revised name had yet to be determined. Fire Chief Chris Harrow said Minto currently does not have a separate emergency measures committee. He had asked that the idea be brought up at a future meeting.
However, he believes the name should be changed.
“My role is a dual role, as both fire chief and emergency measures coordinator.” And as part of the emergency measures role, Harrow said it would make sense to provide recommendations to council.
He also believed a specific recommendation regarding the current fire committee would be coming to council.
