GUELPH – During its first meeting of the year, the Upper Grand District School Board confirmed committee rosters for the year and appointed committee chairs and external board members.
Standing committees
The 2025 chairs of the board’s three standing committees will be the same as last year:
– trustee Jen Edwards will chair the finance and facilities committee;
– trustee Luke Weiler will chair the governance committee; and
– trustee Robin Ross will chair the policies and priorities committee.
The other members of these committees will be:
– trustees Irene Hanenberg, Katherine Hauser, Ralf Mesebrink and Weiler on the finance and facilities committee;
– trustees Hanenberg, Martha MacNeil, Mesenbrink and Ross on the governance committee; and
– trustees MacNeil, Alethia O’Hara-Stephenson, Lynn Topping and Laurie Whyte on the policies and priorities committee.
Statutory committees
Trustees Hanenberg, Hauser and Mesenbrink will continue their four year terms on the board’s audit committee.
Trustees O’Hara-Stephenson and Whyte will continue their four year terms on the special education advisory committee, with trustees Hanenberg and Hauser as alternates.
Trustee MacNeil will be on the parent involvement committee, with Hauser and Edwards as alternates.
Trustee Ross will be on the supervised alternative learning committee for Wellington County and Whyte will be the alternate.
Advisory committees
The board’s 2025 advisory committee appointments will be as follows:
– trustees Hanenberg and Topping on the lifelong love of learning committee;
– trustees Hauser and Ross on the health and wellbeing committee;
– trustees O’Hara-Stephenson and Whyte on the equity and access of outcomes committee; and
– trustees Edwards and MacNeil on the sustainability committee.
Other roles
Trustees Hanenberg and MacNeil will sit on the First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education Council, with Topping as the alternate.
Trustee Mesenbrink will continue as the student trustee liaison until July 31, 2026.
The boards’ external appointments include trustee Edwards on the Upper Grand Learning Foundation’s board and trustees MacNeil, Edwards and Hauser on the Art Gallery of Guelph’s board.
