CODD (Fieldhouse), Alma Bernice

Bernice was born in Vaughan Township on May 17, 1930, and was the oldest child of the late Harry and the late Alma Fieldhouse (nee Weatherill). She was the beloved wife of Terry Codd for 53 years and devoted mother to Charlie (Heather), Lynn (Ian, deceased), Jan (George), Doug (Vanessa), Barb (Paul) and Bruce (deceased). She was the loving Gramma and Nan to Kelly (Jason), Bruce (Nicole), Nancy (Brad), Brock (Laura), Kent (Amanda), Dane (Lindsay), Charlie (Breanne) and Ira (Tara). Loving great grandmother of eleven. Sister to Don (Annie) (both deceased), Bruce (deceased) (Gladys), and Ann (Trevor, deceased). Bernice and Terry began their married life in Woodbridge in 1951. In 1955, they and their then three children moved to Kinistino, Saskatchewan, Terry’s hometown. In 1962, they moved back to Ontario with their six children and subsequently moved to Grand Valley, Ontario where they purchased a farm and began a dairy operation. After the farm was sold Bernice and Terry began enjoying retired life. During those years they enjoyed travelling to Florida and Saskatchewan yearly, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Bernice had many hobbies as well; quilting, knitting and crocheting were just a few. She also volunteered her time at Headwaters Health Centre. After Terry passed away in 2004 Bernice moved to Orangeville and then Arthur. Bernice loved a good game of cribbage, Rummio and euchre. She also enjoyed watching the Toronto Blue Jays and curling on television. In accordance with Bernice’s wishes cremation has taken place. A family celebration will take place later. Donations may be made to Matthew’s House in Alliston and the Canadian Cancer Society in Bernice’s memory. Online condolences can be made at www.imfunerals.com. In Memoriam Funeral Services Inc. has been given the honour of serving the Codd Family.
