CLIFFORD – Over the last 25 years the Clifford Rotary Club has helped raised over $100,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation – and its members don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
“We support Make-A-Wish Canada because it supports children during a critical time in their lives,” club president Trish Palmer told the Community News.
The club’s Breakfast with Santa fundraiser is coming to the community on Dec. 6 at the Clifford Community Centre from 8 to 10:30am.
“We needed a new venue that was able to handle more people,” Palmer said.
The sausage and pancake breakfast will be prepared by Minto firefighters and is by donation, with all proceeds going to the foundation.
The breakfast will also include juice, coffee and tea.
Last year “we had 179 plates of food and I believe 84 children visited with Santa and received goodie bags,” Palmer said.
“We’re hoping for more this year,” she said, noting additional food was purchased this year.
The event will include a raffle with eight gift baskets donated by the Clifford Country Store. Raffle tickets will be sold at the breakfast with the winner announced at the end.
“We invite parents to take their own pictures,” Palmer added.
Children will be given a number that will be announced when it is their time to see Santa.
“There’s no rush on time because [Santa is] up there for the whole two and a half hours,” she said.
