CLIFFORD – Community group Clifford Connects is set to host its Winter Magic Market at the Clifford Community Centre on Nov. 29.
Offered in partnership with the Clifford Firefighters Association, the event will run from 5 to 7pm.
“This event is an update on the ever-popular Clifford Christmas in the Street event,” town marketing and community development coordinator Erin Raftis told the Community News.
“We’ve moved the majority of the event indoors … to allow some time for visitors to shop and enjoy family-friendly activities in the warmth.”
The event takes place prior to Minto Fire’s Santa Claus Parade in Clifford at 7pm.
“We have a great line-up of vendors to shop inside the community centre, plus we have two family-friendly crafts led by our Clifford Connects beautification committee,” said Raftis.
At 6pm, an ugly sweater fashion show will begin. It is open to all to participate. “The winner will be chosen by audience clapping,” Raftis said.
Two $25 Think Minto First gift cards prizes will be won, donated by Wightman Telecom.
Just outside the community centre there will be horse and wagon rides awaiting.
“We encourage everyone to go downtown and shop. Stores will be open with late-night shopping,” Raftis said.
Each retail and restaurant location will have “shop and win” bags. Guests can enter to win $500 in prizes when visiting stores.
“Participating businesses will also have a Minto Magical Town Passport contest,” Raftis said. “[Guests] will need three signatures from two or three towns.”
Guests are asked to bring donations for the local food bank and community pantry.
“This event exists to bring the community together to celebrate the season and highlight the importance of supporting local businesses during the holiday season,” said Raftis.
“Clifford is a great community, filled with wonderful people.”
