Staff at the Clifford Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) have earned bragging rights in a local bank challenge to collect donations for area food banks.

“It was such a community effort,” said Karen Dowler, accounts manager of the Clifford RBC. “We may have won the challenge, but the real winners will be the people in the community who will benefit from the 284 items collected.”

The challenge was issued by the Elmira RBC branch in an effort to fill the pantries of local food banks. The goal was to see which RBC employees could collect the most food items from Oct. 1 to 21.

The winner would collect $100 for the food bank as well as the food contribution.

Clifford, Harriston and Listowel staff accepted the challenge, with the Clifford branch winning with a total of 284 items collected.

Dowler, along with Clifford RBC customer service representatives Debbie Richardson, Donna Kuranyi and Patricia Von Westerholt, was grateful  for the generosity of the public who saw the Fill ‘er Up signs and added to the challenge.

Christmas hampers are being readied for family holiday celebrations. The Clifford Food Bank is collecting food, money and new toys as part of its seasonal donations.
