CHIDLOW, Samuel Donald “Don”
Of Fergus, Ont. passed away on March 28, 2024 at Groves Memorial Hospital in his 95th year with family by his side. Don was born to the late Albert and Alice Chidlow on May 15, 1929, in Chester, U.K. as the 3rd of 5 children. Don was the loving husband of Beryl (nee Willetts) for 73 years. He was in the Royal Navy for 7 years, before Don and Beryl, with 2 year old Susan, emigrated to N.Z. They lived there for 13 years, where son Stephen was born, before emigrating to Canada, where Don worked for Air Canada for 20 years. Don is also survived by his 2 children, Sue (Dave) Corbett (nee Chidlow) and Steve Chidlow (Shelley), his 4 Grandchildren, Chris, Jen, Steph and Mark and 5 Great Grandchildren, Talon, Kai, Samantha, Aiden and Maddie. Don was an avid golfer, he was the oldest in his Fergus Golf Club, even golfing this past summer. His golfing buddies will miss him. He was a devoted Husband, Dad, Grandad and Great Grandad and will be sorely missed. As per Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Groves Memorial Hospital or Canadian Cancer Society.
