CHECKLEY, Robert “Bob”
Of West Garafraxa passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of his family on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 in his 77th year. Beloved husband of the late Peggy Checkley (2007). Dear father of Chris and Tanja Checkley, Cindy and Dave Kelly and Dustin and Valerie Checkley. Much loved Huppa of Anabelle, Helaina, Dawson, Brayleigh and Kaisley and special dog Howard. Bob will be missed by his special friend Beth de Bruyn. Brother of Lynda Richardson. Brother-in-law of Glenda Dundas. Fondly remembered by his many nieces nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents Walter and Lorene Checkley. Bob was born on 4th Day of the 4th month of the 49th year at 4 minutes after 4 with help of a pair of forceps—”as he claims.” He spent his whole life at the home farm on the Third Line of West Garafraxa. From there he spent his lifetime looking after the land, animals, family and friends. Bob was born a farmer. From milking cows, custom farming, understanding machinery to fixing and building anything, if there was a job to be done, Bob was the man to do it. However, Bob’s real passion was custom work. His slogan of, “Don’t Cuss Call Us,” was amplified with his willingness and reliability. From planting, silage, baling or blowing snow. He took pride in an honest day’s work, he understood machinery, the land and the satisfaction that comes from doing a job properly. That’s why he would often say, “We don’t quit when we are tired, but when we are done.” Bob took joy in all things Ag related. Whether it was reminiscing about the old ways of farming or to the newest advancement in Ag. technology, he embraced it all. Aside from farming, Bob enjoyed road trip adventures, Two Cylinder Club, camping, dancing, being at the pond, sharing stories, spending time with family, telling jokes and leaving a lasting impression on anyone he met. Bob will be truly missed as he was a staple and familiar face in the community all his life.
