CHAPMAN, Robert Lawrence ‘Larry’

Larry Chapman passed away August 16, 2026 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener, Ontario. Larry was born in London, Ontario, while his father was stationed at RCAF Station Centralia to Robert (Bob/Bert) Chapman and Dorothy Asbury Chapman. Larry had the opportunity of many jobs during his life including serving customers at the family’s gas station and country store near Durham, construction and working with his brother in auto parts recycling. He had an interest in nature from beekeeping and gardening, to nature photography. His fondness for Ford pickup trucks and John Deere tractors gave way to discussion and debates with friends and family. His interested in things with motors didn’t stop there he enjoyed racing snowmobiles and as the son of a wartime/peace time parent he had a keen interest in World War 2 history, especially airplanes. For a guy who liked to go fast (Anyone remember after dark racing on Wasaga Beach back in the day?) he found patience and a slower speed taking his children on work road trips to supporting them in their first jobs. He left them with interests to follow for their lifetime, fishing and favourite sports teams. Larry will be deeply missed by his wife of almost 51 years, Linda, his daughter Langlee, his son Lance and his fiancée Anita, his sister Sheri (Dennis), his sister-in-law Lesley (the late Brian), nieces and nephews, many cousins and friends. Fondly remembered by Linda’s sister Mary Ann. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2026 at the Aboyne Hall, Wellington County Museum and Archives, 536 Wellington Road 18, Fergus. Lunch, love, live, learn, laugh and join the family for lunch from 1:00pm – 2:30pm. Celebration and remembrances will be held from 2:30pm to 3:30pm. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
