CENTRE WELLINGTON – For the third consecutive year, Centre Wellington’s Culture Days placed among the top 10 participating communities nationally.
The theme in Centre Wellington in 2025 was Canvas of Cultures, and it really cast a wide net in terms of events, displays and numerous ways to take in the local arts and culture scene, said Paula Sealy, the township’s community development coordinator.
“The township held a few events, but the majority were by third-party groups.
“We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful community.”
Culture Days ran from Sept. 19 to Oct. 12 and the Fergus-Elora Studio Art Tour, the Elora Sculpture Project, performances at the Fergus Grand Theatre and Sensational Elora’s Monster Month events were among 92 events held in the township.
Centre Wellington tied with Winnipeg for fourth place based on the number of events held.
“I can’t believe we beat out Toronto,” Sealy said.
“We’re a small community compared to them. We are so rich culturally though and had a lot to showcase.”
Sealy sent her thanks and appreciation to all event organizers and highlighted the Elora Fergus Arts Council, The Elora Fergus Studio Tour and the Elora Centre for the Arts as being major partners.
The township, along with Dalton Associates, brought in speakers Leo Stands Alone Atlookan of Eabametoong First Nation and his brother Elmer to the Fergus Grand Theatre for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and also hosted Just Play at the theatre as well, which was an opportunity for regular folks to get on stage and perform.
These were stand-out events for Sealy, but it was really the volume and passion of the participating groups that made the entire Culture Days experience a stand-out, she said.
“Your creativity, dedication and community spirit helped make this year’s celebration truly exceptional,” she stated in an email to all the participants.
“You played a vital role in showcasing the richness, diversity, and artistic excellence that define Centre Wellington.”
Sealy said organizers will begin working on Culture Days 2026 (Sept. 18 to Oct. 4) early in the new year.
