CASSIE, Donald Douglas

Donald Douglas Cassie passed away on July 21, 2026, at his home, in his 77th year. Loving husband of Cecilia (Pentz) Cassie for 51 years. Proud father of David (Erika) of Guelph and Matthew (Sarah) of Fergus. Will be deeply missed by his cherished grandchildren: Mitchel, Olivia, Brooke, and Jordan. Predeceased by his parents, Donald and Dorothy Cassie; his sister, Elizabeth Borthwick; and infant granddaughter, Madelyn. Survived by his brother John Cassie (Nancy) of Calgary, and sisters Barbara Bowman (Jim) of Waterloo and Donna Poag (Barry) of Grimsby. Doug graduated from the University of Guelph with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. After graduation, he worked for McKee Bros. in Elmira and then focused on farming, expanding the beef cattle herd and building a maple syrup business. He was actively involved with many organizations, including the Wellington County Cattlemen’s Association and the Ontario Maple Syrup Producers Association, where he made significant contributions
and developed lasting friendships. As per Doug’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held at this time. A very special thank you to all of Doug’s caregivers. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice in Doug’s memory would be appreciated.
