Building permit values here continue to outpace last year, despite fewer permits being issued.

In a report to council at its Dec. 20 meeting Chief Administrative Officer Bill White said building permits are values at about $1.7 million this year (up until the end of November), despite 36 fewer permits compared to the same period last year.

So far in 2011 the town has registered a value of $14,979,000 based on 151 permits issued. In 2010 there were 187 permits issued as of the end of November valued at $13,231,000. In November the town saw four permits issued valued at $611,000 compared to 13 issued in November 2010 valued at $1,803,000.

Building activity remains strong, White told council.
