CAMPBELL, Marion Elizabeth (née Angst)
December 31, 1930 – February 26, 2026
Marion Elizabeth Campbell (née Angst), aged 95, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness on February 26, 2026, surrounded by family in her final moments. Born on December 31, 1930, to Reginald (1975) and Eva (Thurtell) Angst (1983). Predeceased by her beloved husband, Malcolm Campbell (2010); daughter, Barbara Mayes (2024); sister, Charlotte Mackie (2024); brother-in-law, Robert Mackie (2009); and sister-in-law, Ann Angst (2023). Survived by her brother George Angst. Marion was a loving and devoted mother to Robert Campbell (Trish) and the late Barb Mayes (Paul). She was a proud and caring grandmother, lovingly known as “Nanny,” to Colin, Rebecca, Sarah (Albert), and Thomas, and a cherished great-grandmother to two great-grandchildren who brought her joy. She was also a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews and a dear friend to many. Marion lived a long and meaningful life rooted in family, community, and creativity. She worked as an Executive Secretary for Sun Life. She and Malcolm were married and spent many years together farming, cultivating oats and barley, and raising Hereford cattle with care and pride. Farm and homestead life was one she embraced fully, always ensuring there was a warm meal on the table and a homemade pie ready for whoever might drop by. Creative and talented, Marion was known for her painting, drawing, sewing, horticulture, cooking and baking. She found happiness in tending her flower and vegetable gardens, and in her love of birds and nature. A gifted artist, she completed many commissioned paintings and drawings, including her Trillium and whimsical bear on a tricycle, that hang in cherished homes. She found joy in making things, including wedding dresses and cakes, and was always willing to mend holes in the grandkids clothes. Part of the glue that held the family together, she always had a task ready for willing hands during visits and homemade treats on hand. She cherished gathering her family for summer bonfires and holiday dinners, creating traditions and memories that will be forever treasured. In recent years, she became a passionate local historian and was actively involved with the Guelph Township Public Schools Reunion Committee, carefully collecting the stories of Guelph’s schools, ensuring their heritage would not be forgotten through publication of a historical book. She assisted in planning and hosting GCVI Reunion Parties, bringing classmates and friends back together in celebration of shared history. A true socialite at heart, she nurtured lasting friendships and made everyone feel welcome. Quick-witted and genuinely kind, Marion stayed deeply involved in the lives of those she cherished. Even with company in her home, her phone was never far from reach as she routinely kept up with friends and family. Her quirky expressions, “Oh heavens to Peter’s” and “I’ll be jiggered,” will forever echo in our memories as a sweet reminder. Marion will be remembered for her strength, creativity, and deep love for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her as she is reunited with those who went before her. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held at Brombal Funeral Home, 1 Delhi Street, Guelph, on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 1 to 4pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 11am., followed by a reception located at the Italian Canadian Club, 135 Ferguson St, Guelph, ON N1E 2Y7 . In keeping with Marion’s wishes, there will be no interment at this time.
