GUELPH – The Art Gallery of Guelph (AGG) is now accepting submissions for the 2026 Middlebrook Prize for Young Canadian Curators.
Founded in 2012, the Middlebrook Prize is awarded annually to an emerging Canadian curator under 30 fostering social innovation and curatorial excellence.
Hosted and administered by the Art Gallery of Guelph, the winner is selected by a jury of arts leaders, receiving a $5,000 honorarium and mentorship in the development of an exhibition at the Art Gallery of Guelph.
This year’s jurors include:
– Emma Hassencahl-Perley, curator of Indigenous Art at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery;
– Lillian O’Brien Davis, associate curator at the MacKenzie Art Gallery; and
– Sandy Saad-Smith, curator at the Doris McCarthy Gallery.
The Middlebrook Prize “encourages innovative thinking and inspires socially engaged cultural practices at a time of unprecedented economic, environmental, social and cultural transformation,” officials state.
Submissions will be accepted until Jan. 15 at 5pm and the winner will be announced in March.
