BUTTON, Marian Elizabeth

Of Harriston passed away at Palmerston Hospital, with her children at her side, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, in her 87th year. Beloved wife of the late Maitland Button. Mother of Shawn and Wendy Button of Guelph, and Shanon Button and Dennis Lepsi of Ottawa. Grandmother of Jay Button and Harlan Button. Sister of Donald and Kathryn Dowling of Elmira, and fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by her parents, Harry and Isabel (Redpath) Dowling. Marian and Mait met in Harriston and, following their marriage in 1959, settled in town, where she devoted herself to raising her family and volunteering/working in her community. She took pride in caring for those around her, and her kitchen was the heart of family gatherings. She was especially known for her apple pies and fresh bread, along with many other incredible home-cooked meals. Marian loved spending time at the family cottage, where she enjoyed relaxing on the deck to the soothing sounds of the Saugeen River, feeding the birds and chipmunks, and gathering around the campfire with family and friends. She had a keen, sometimes mischievous sense of humour that revealed itself in well-timed remarks and practical jokes. She will be fondly remembered for her devotion, her strength, and her calm, comforting presence. A graveside funeral service will be at Harriston Cemetery in the spring.
