FERGUS – Dancers from the Blue Bonnet Lassies School of Highland Dance have been very busy at competitions this spring.
On March 8, dancers participated at the HDAO Spring Highland Competition. In the Beginner 11 years and over category, Ziva Sobol placed sixth in Sword, and Seann Truibhas. In the Novice 10 and under 13 years category, Maribelle McBroom placed fifth in Lilt and sixth in Seann Truibhas.
On March 22, Maribell McBroom competed at the Montreal Highland Open Competition.
In the Novice 12 years and over category, she placed fourth in Seann Truibhas, and fifth in Fling, Sword, and Reel.

On March 29 and 30, dancers participated at the WOHDA Pre-Championships and Amethyst Pre-Premier Competition. In the Primary 4 and under 6 years category, Finleigh MacLeod placed second in Pas de Basques and third in the Pas de Basque and High Cuts.
In the Beginner 9 and under 12 years category, Ziva Sobol placed third in Fling and fourth in Sword.
Lastly, in the Novice 12 years and over, Cayley Simpson placed fourth in Fling and Flora, and fifth in Sword and Seann Truibhas; and Maribelle McBroom placed sixth in Sword. Lastly, in the Premier 18 years and over, Emma Horlsey placed third in Seann Truibhas, fourth in Fling and Sword, and fifth in Reel.
On April 12 and 13, dancers competed at the Paulina McMaster SDTA Spring Festival. In the Beginner 10 years and over, Ziv Sobol placed fourth in Sword, fifth in Flora, sixth in Lilt and Reel. In the Novice 10 and 11-year category, Scarlett Jackson placed fourth in Seann Truibhas and fifth in Flora. In the Novice 12 years and Over, Cayley Simpson placed second in Flora, fourth in Reel, fifth in Sword, and sixth in Fling; and Gabby Jackson placed sixth in Lilt. Finally, in the Intermediate 14 years and under, Brooke Bailey placed sixth in Flora.
On April 26 and 27, dancers competed at the WOHDA London Competition. In the Beginner 9 and under 11 years, Isley Sy-Gree placed third in Flora and Trophy Fling and fifth in Lilt and Sword.
In the Beginner 11 years and over, Ziva Sobol placed fourth in Sword, fifth in Lilt, and sixth in Seann Truibhas and Flora; and Hadley Heathers placed fifth in Lilt and Seann Truibhas, and sixth in Sword and Lilt.
Lastly, in the Novice 12 years and over category, Cayley Simpson placed third in Seann Truibhas, fourth in Flora, sixth in Sword and Lilt, and Maribelle McBroom placed sixth in Flora.
On May 3, dancers participated in the Nicola McMaster Memorial Competition. In the Novice 12 years and over category, Cayley Simpson placed first in Flora, and fourth in Fling and Seann Truibhas; and Maribelle McBroom placed sixth in Sword.
In the Beginner 10 years and over Hadley Heathers placed fourth in Fling and fifth in Seann Truibhas.
On June 1, dancers participated in the Anna Cann Memorial Competition. In the Beginner 9 years and over category, Ziva Sobol was third in Lilt and Fling, fifth in Sword and Seann Truibhas; and Hadley Heathers sixth in Lilt and Seann Truibhas, fourth in Fling.
In the Novice 10 years and over category, Cayley Simpson placed sixth in Sword and third in Seann Truibhas.
In the Intermediate 14 years and under category, Brooke Bailey placed fifth in Fling and Barracks, and sixth in Lilt.
Lastly, in the Premier 16 years and under, Ainsley Stewart placed fifth in Village Maid, sixth in Lilt, and Fling.
Next weekend dancers will be competing at the Georgetown Highland Games and then in July they will be competing at the Scotdance Canada Canadian Championship Series in Ottawa.
