Busy month for building in Mapleton

MAPLETON – Business is booming for builders in Mapleton, where the building department collected more than double the  fees it has in previous Junes. 

Permit and administrative fees totalled $106,425 last month – surpassing the previous three-year average by 127%, according to a report the building department prepared to present to council July 14. 

“Year-to-date fees are significantly outpacing the three-year historical average of $311,683,” the report continues. 

This year’s year-to-date fees, as of the end of June, were $410,909. 

“Building permit fees continue to be on schedule to surpass revenue expectations for 2026,” the report continues, and any year-end-surplus will be transferred to the township’s building code reserve fund.
