A life-long resident of Eramosa Township, Betty Burnett, in her 86th year, passed away peacefully at the Golden Years Nursing Home, Cambridge, on Sunday, September 1, 2019. Betty (nee Fleming) was the beloved wife of the late James Allan (Jake) Burnett (1979). She was the dear mother of Gordon Burnett (Valerie Nunn), David (Julie) Burnett, Valerie Drewery (John Stephenson) and Janet (Philip) Cipoletta. Betty was the loving grandmother of Emily, Sandra, Laura, James, Matthew, Victoria, Nicholas, Rachel, Steven and Gregory and she was the dear great-grandmother of Brittany, Megan, Abigail, Emma, Ivy, Vincent and Darien. Betty is survived by her brother William John Fleming (Ardys) and by many nephews and family. She will be missed greatly by her special friend Kath Elgar and husband Dave and their family. Betty is also remembered by her friends of Bill W. Betty was predeceased by her parents James Gordon Fleming and Grace Christina (nee Rutherford) Fleming and by her granddaughter Stephanie Burnett. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Years for their kind care and support. Friends were invited to meet with the family at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Rockwood Chapel, 117 Guelph St., Rockwood, on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Church, Oustic, 8404 Fifth Line (at Wellington Rd. 22), Guelph-Eramosa, on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 11:00am. Interment, Johnson-Eramosa Union Cemetery, Eramosa. In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, donations to the Waterloo Regional Down Syndrome Society or to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
