It is a bit of a mixed bag with local building permits in Puslinch.

While property values are comparable to last year at this time, chief building official  Robert Kelly said the number of permits is actually down.

On Sept. 7 Mayor Dennis Lever said August was a good month, which compensates for a not-so-good July. Lever said in year-to-date figures, the value of building permits is comparable, but the number of permits is down slightly. He said a larger value permit issued earlier in the year, put the values up. Lever asked if that meant the municipality would do well by the year’s end in terms of the number and value of building permits.

Kelly believes that in value, Puslinch will be well ahead, based on permits he anticipates will still be granted before the end of the year.

As for the number of permits, Kelly offered no predictions. He considers the activity level at the department to be very steady for this time of year.
