BROWN, June “Darlene”

June “Darlene” Brown passed away on July 29, 2026, at the age of 95. What a great life she lived. She was predeceased by her parents, Flett Ecclestone and Scott “Red” Brown, and her sister, Betty. Darlene did not have any children of her own, but she received an abundance of love from many. Darlene enrolled in nursing school to become a registered nurse (RN) in Hamilton, Ontario. Once her program was completed, she and four friends headed south to find work. She and her friends eventually found work in several states, but she ultimately settled in California. Darlene’s main focus was working in surgery and recovery. After 25 years in her nursing career, she decided to embark on a new adventure in her life. In 1974, Darlene and her business partner, Pat, bought a small restaurant called the Stagecoach Inn, located in the heart of Aguanga, California. Darlene and Pat thought they would try it for a year, just to see where it would go. Well, after 44 fantastic years, they finally sold it to “retire.” Aguanga was her home. She loved it, along with the people she came to know over the years. Many still call her “Boss” to this day. Following the sale, Darlene decided to return home in 2018. She moved in with her family, and it was great. Darlene then made an “executive decision” to move into Highland Manor Retirement Lodge in Fergus, Ontario. As her health began to change, she transitioned to Wellington Terrace Long-Term Care Home. Darlene often spoke of the great care she received there and how fortunate she was to reside there until her passing. On behalf of her entire family, we would like to thank everyone from Apple Valley for all the loving care you gave Darlene and our family during her time there. At a later date, a private Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends to honour a great family member, friend, co-worker, and “Boss.” Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Society of Southwestern Ontario (PSSO) or Wellington Terrace Long-Term Care. Arrangements were entrusted to Graham A Giddy Funeral Home Ltd., 280 St. David St. S. Fergus, ON N1M 2L5, (519) 843-3100. Visit www.grahamgiddyfh.com for Darlene’s online memorial.
