BROWN, Douglas Colin
1944 -2026
Peacefully on April 30th 2026, Douglas Colin Brown in his 82nd year passed away at Erin Mills Lodge in Mississauga. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years Patricia (Jones) and sons David Brown (Lori Hall) and Stephen Brown (Sherri Lacey) and grandson Alexander Brown. He will also be dearly missed by his baby sister Rebecca Skeldoch, sister-in-law Donna Neabel and many nieces & nephews. Doug was predeceased by his sister Marie Johnson, brothers-in-laws Robert Jones, Bruce Skeldoch and Raymond Johnson. Doug was a man of many hats, from helping his Grandfather digging many water wells in Southwestern Ontario in his youth to working on the railroad with his Uncle Colin and Grandfather Brown. Growing up into a young man in London, he started working in Northern Telecom installing a new telephone system in Southwestern Ontario. Then he got married and moved to Guelph and worked at Foseco Canada in many departments for 25 years. After that he became co-owner of his own freight company Midtown Emergency Expedite. After starting his family in Guelph he became a Cub/Scout Leader at Church of our Lady for almost ten years. During the time his sons were growing up he enjoyed sharing his love and skills of woodworking with his sons and nephews and now they are passing that love onto others. Doug also helped make many sets for his daughter-in-law’s dance studio. His other love was swimming lengths three times a week without fail. Then he took up bike riding and started riding in the Tour of Guelph with his son Stephen and grandson Alex. He also rode with Stephen in many MS Rides. He joined the Fergus Seniors Bike Group which started off with 3 members and once he started looking after the group it kept growing and making many new friends. Doug prided himself on being a good neighbour and would help anyone who needed assistance, from checking on their home when they were on vacation to feeding the animals or snow plowing their driveway, he was always there. Doug’s funeral will be held on Friday June 26th at 2pm at St John’s Anglican Church Eastwood 685860 Oxford Rd 2 Woodstock Ontario, 2 KM east of the 401.
