Blue Bonnet Lassies enjoy successful summer of competition

FERGUS – Dancers with the Blue Bonnet Lassies School of Highland Dance had a busy summer of competition, with great success, officials say.

Starting in June at the Georgetown Highland Games, Blue Bonnets had 14 dancers compete. 

In the primary six years category, Finleigh MacLeod placed sixth in pas de basques. 

In the beginner 10 years category, Isley Sy-Green placed first in Sword, second in Fling and Seann Truibhas, and third in Lilt, earning herself the runner-up overall trophy for her category; and Xara placed fourth in Lilt and fifth in Fling. 

In the beginner 11 years and over category, Hazel McAlister placed sixth in Lilt. 

In the intermediate 13 years and over category, Cayley Simpson placed second in Fling and sixth in Seann Truibhas. 

In the premier 19 years and over category, Ashley Elliott placed sixth in Fling, Seann Truibhas, and Jig.

Then on June 27, dancers ventured to the Kingsville Highland Games. 

In the beginner eight years and over, Xara Sobol placed sixth in Sword. 

In novice 11 and over, Ziva Sobol placed fourth in Flora and sixth in Lilt, Fling, Sword and Trophy Fling. 

For Canada Day, dancers were in Embro at the Embro Highland Games. 

In the beginner eight and under 10 years, Kailey Eisen placed sixth in Fling, Sword, and Seann Truibhas. 

In the Novice 11 years and over, Ziva Sobol placed sixth in Fling and Sword. 

At the beginning of July, dancers ventured across the country to the East Coast to the Scotdance Canadian Championships in Moncton, New Brunswick. 

On day one of competition, in the beginner 11 and under 12 years category, Isley Sy-Green placed second in Trophy Fling and Seann Truibhas, third in Fling and fifth in Sword. 

In the novice 11 and under 13 years category, Harlyn Heathers placed eighth in Trophy Fling and ninth in Seann Truibhas. 

In the intermediate 13 and under 15 years category, Cayley Simpson placed seventh in Seann Truibhas and ninth in Sword. 

In the intermediate 15 years and over category, Gabby Jackson placed fourth in Hornpipe. 

On day two of competition, in the beginner 10 and under 12 years category, Sy-Green placed second in Flora and fourth in Half Hullachan. 

In the novice 11 and under 13 years category, Heathers placed seventh in Half Hullachan. 

In the intermediate 13 and under 15 years category, Simpson placed third in Lilt and sixth in Flora. 

In the intermediate 16 years and over category, Gabby Jackson placed fifth in Half Hullachan, and Brooke Bailey placed fourth in Lilt.

On July 25, dancers competed at the Uxbridge Scottish Festival. 

In the beginner 9 and under 11 years category, Pearl Dodds placed sixth in Fling and seventh in Seann Truibhas. 

In the novice 11 years and over category, Ziva Sobol placed ninth in Fling.

At the last competition of the summer, on Aug. 23, dancers competed at the Caitlin Stewart Memorial Competition in Arnprior. 

In the beginner 10 years and over category, Xara Sobol placed sixth in Fling and Lilt. 

In the novice 10 years and over category, Ziva Sobol placed fifth in Seann Truibhas.
