Dancers from the Blue Bonnet Lassies School of Highland Dance competed at the Fergus Scottish Festival on August 8 to 10.
After performing downtown in the Templin Gardens on Wednesday, dancing through the Pipes, Plaid, and Pageantry parade on Thursday, and dancing downtown Fergus on Friday, the lassies then turned around to compete from Friday through to Sunday. 14 dancers competed from the school.
At the Saturday competition in the beginner 10 years and over category, Ziva Sobol placed eighth in sword, and Hazel McAlister placed fifth in fling.
In the Novice 10 years category, Harlyn Heathers placed sixth in sword and fling.
In the Novice 11 years category, Scarlett Jackson placed sixth in sword and Seann Truibhas.
In the intermediate 12 and under 15 years category, Cayley Simpson placed fourth in Seann Truibhas, fifth in reel, and sixth in fling, and Brooke Bailey placed fifth in fling and sword.
The Sunday competition brought the heat and some tired dancers. In the beginner 10 years and over category, Ziva Sobol placed sixth in lilt and reel, and Hazel McAlister placed fourth in flora. In the novice 10 and under 12 years, Scarlett Jackson placed fourth in reel. In the novice 12 years and over category, Gabby Jackson placed fifth in flora.
In the intermediate 12 years and under 15 years category, Cayley Simpson placed third in flora, fifth in lilt and sixth in jig, and Brooke Bailey placed fifth in flora and jig. In the premier 22 and under 26 years category, Ashley Elliott placed sixth in flora.
In the premier 16 years category, Aisnley Stewart placed sixth in sword.
