‘Blowing in the wind’

Dear Editor:

By 6 am on Feb. 8 in Rockwood (garbage collection day) there were more blue bins and garbage littering our streets than were actually awaiting pick-up at the bottom of driveways.

This comes as no surprise to those with an ounce of common sense who realize that wind gusts in excess of 90km/hour could possibly do this to loose items.

Do people not pay any attention to weather forecasts. considering what southern Ontario had thrown at it last week? Does a severe weather statement mean nothing to folks who try to save 45 seconds in the morning by placing their recyclables haphazardly at the bottom on their drives the night before?

Please do not place recycle bins outside in severe wind storms. Now instead of being recycled, it’s all just garbage blowing in the wind.

Lorie Fowler,

Rockwood
