A toll booth will be returning to Belwood on May 21 - for a good cause.

On March 27, councillors here approved a staff recommendation to authorize the fundraising activity on Wellington Road 26 in Belwood on May 21 from 8am to 4:30pm  by the Belwood and District Lions Club on behalf of the Canadian Diabetes Association.

The annual request was received from the Lions to conduct a fundraising activity in the form of a toll booth on Wellington Road 26, at the north end of the bridge in Belwood on May 21.

The Lions Club raised close to $2,000 last year for the Canadian Diabetes Association enabling several local children living with type 1 diabetes to attend D-camp.

Mayor Kelly Linton said “I think we all like it when groups like this do work like this for a worthy cause.”
