BAYNTON, Jane

Jane (Audrey) Baynton (nee Smith) passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026 at peopleCare AR Goudie LTC, Kitchener at the age of 89. Beloved wife of 59 years to Charles Baynton. Dear mother of Martin, Janet (Jamie), Judy (Andrew) and Charles. Loving grandmother of Beverly, Andrew, Katherine and Michael. Dear sister to Carol Johnson (Gary). Jane will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Predeceased by her parents Edgar and Hazel Smith, her parents-in-law Charles and Lena Baynton, her sisters Anita Nichol (Ivan), Elaine De Bie (Joe) and her brother James Smith. Jane was a long time member of the Federated Women’s Institutes of Ontario (Dublin Branch). She was a parishioner of St. Paul’s United Church in Milton. Brownie leader with the Brookville Brownie Troop and “Hot Dog Lady” at Brookville Public School. She enjoyed going for day trips in the country with Charles, stopping to purchase wool or material for her many knitting, crocheting, quilting or sewing projects. She loved attending craft shows, agricultural shows, festivals and plowing matches throughout Ontario. The Family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at peopleCare AR Goudie LTC, Kitchener for the wonderful care and compassion provided to Jane and her family during her time with them. In honour of Jane’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held September 19th at 11:00am at St. Paul’s United Church in Milton, followed by a Reception at the church. As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Paul’s United Church in Milton would be appreciated by the family. Donations may be made at the funeral home or online directly through the charity’s website.
