BATES, Susan

Susan Bates, 71, of Fergus, Ontario, passed away on December 13, 2023 in Fergus. Susan is survived by her daughters Sabrina Rahman (Shahed), and Virginia Kostiuk (Stephen) and her beloved grandchildren, Sahara, Sabir, Hayley, Cole and James. She is preceded in death by her husband David, her parents Ellen and Boden Wilson and her sister Sheila Wilson. Susan was born in Markham, Ontario to parents Ellen and Boden on July 8, 1952. She went to highschool at Markham District High School. She owned a book store in Fergus and went on to own the Fergus Pet Shop with her husband David for over 30 years. She enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening and being a wonderful grandma to her 5 grandkids. She enjoyed going to her grandkids activities such as ringette and horseback riding and playing board games with them. A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. South, Fergus. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
