BATES, David Edgar
David passed away suddenly on December 15 following a tragic accident. He will be very sadly missed by his wife of 42 years, Susan, daughters Sabrina Rahman (Shahed), and Virginia Kostiuk (Stephen), and his brother Bill Bates (Andrea). He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren; Sahara, and Sabir, Hayley, Cole and James, nieces and nephews; Micheal, Scott, David, Dawn, Kate and Alexandra. He is predeceased by his parents Les and Doris Bates and his sister Lesley Webster. David spent most of his working life as owner of the Fergus Pet Shop. After retiring he worked part time at Zehrs where he made many new friends. He retired fully in July to enjoy his leisure time, and took much joy in spending time with his grandchildren. Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 5:45pm – 7:00pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. South, Fergus. Memorial donations may be made to the Guelph Humane Society.
