BARTLEMAN, Rev. Bruce Gordon
Passed away peacefully in the companionship of family at Wellington Terrace Long Term Care on Friday, July 17, 2026 in his 96th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Alice Patricia (Porter) Bartleman (2022). Loving father of Nancy (Martin) West of Royal Wootton Bassett, England, Carolyn (Richard) Boyne of Kingsbridge, Ontario and Dr. Betty Bartleman (Murray McNab) of Yellowpoint, British Columbia. Proud grandfather of Sarah Zavitz, Maggie Boyne and Holly Boyne (Alex Fensham). Great-grandfather of Oliver Zavitz and Elliott Rose Zavitz. Lovingly remembered by his sister Mary Bartleman, sister-in-law Barbara Bartleman, and brothers-in-law Jim (Lynn) Porter and Gary (Barb) Porter. Predeceased by his parents David Knox and Hannah Elizabeth (Welland) Bartleman, sisters Ruth and Jean Bartleman, and brother David Bartleman. A kind and generous man, he was always helping someone or improving how things worked. A man of quiet, yet deep faith, he was actively involved in the church and broader community. Open to change, he moved through several careers - auto mechanic, teacher, technical director, Lutheran minister and director of Camp Edgewood. He was always giving back and supporting those around him, with Alice by his side. When she developed symptoms of Alzheimer’s he became her caregiver, focusing on her quality of life. The family would like to thank Rev. Gloria Ryder, Dr. Catherine Anderson, Dr. John Stickney and the staff at Wellington Terrace LTC for their loving care and support. Friends and family were received on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South Fergus, ON N1M 2L5. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 10:00am at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fergus, ON with a light reception being held at the Graham A Giddy Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Belsyde Cemetery in Fergus, ON. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations made to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church or Wellington Terrace LTC would be appreciated by Bruce’s family.
