BAKER, Valerie Eleanor (nee Wooster)
Passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026 after living 83 beautiful and full years of life. Valerie was born in 1943 in Wealdstone, England to Sidney and Hapzibeth, the fourth daughter in a family that would eventually include six sisters. She married Alun Baker in 1964 and together with their two sons, Colin and Nigel, they made the brave move to immigrate to Ontario, Canada in 1971. Valerie is now reunited with her late husband, Alun, with whom she shared 45 years of deep love and marriage before Alun’s passing in 2009. Her strong faith and relationship with God impacted how she lived and held her through the good and hard moments of life. Valerie was deeply cherished by her two sons Colin (Heidi) and Nigel (Janice). Beloved “Grandmar” to Nathaniel (Alisha), Annelise (Riley), Kenzie, Andrea, Charlotte, Matthew (Noelle), Ian and great-grandson Gabriel. She is also remembered by many family and friends in England and Canada. Valerie was a hard-worker who poured many years and much time and energy alongside Alun into their business, Nutritional Feed Additives. Valerie loved a sweet treat and showed care and generosity for family, friends, church and community through food and cooking. Throughout her life she had a love for music that continued into her later years as she lived with dementia. Valerie would take any opportunity to share her British humour, quick wit and a word of encouragement with those around her. Valerie was steadfast both in the big picture with her values, faith and family and in the small, everyday ways. Her strong character, persistence and kindness are memorable to who she was. She will be missed dearly by her friends, family and all those she impacted throughout her life. Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South Fergus, ON N1M 2L5.
